As a result of remote learning, Dr. Elizabeth Bowen, an assistant professor at the University of Buffalo & faculty expert on homelessness says "Education is disrupted for all students right now. But some students have supportive adults their lives and have the financial resources to help them overcome those disruptions. Many people in the homeless youth population do not have that."
Millennial Scnce wanted to focus on this vulnerable population to bring relief during these desolate times in the educational component of these children's lives. Many shelters provide developmental programs for adults but do not have sufficient resources to aid the children as well. Through virtual learning, Millennial Scnce will be a liaison for students in shelters that will give them the academic and emotional support in a safe and effective way. We work with students in grades 2-12, in transitional housing facilities to aid children with free interactive STEM programs and one-on-one mentoring.
